Text only, no background
Brat text generator with a transparent background
The same stretched lowercase lettering, saved as a PNG with nothing behind it. Put it over your own photo, a story, a video, or a t-shirt mockup instead of a flat green square.
The grey squares mean transparent. They will not appear in your file.
Press Enter for a new line. Up to 600 characters.
The cover you remember sits around 3. Push it to 8 for the smeared look.
Charli's cover uses Arial pulled wider. 1.15 is close.
What people do with the transparent version
A flat green square is the meme. Lettering on its own is the useful version, because it goes anywhere.
- Sitting over a photo in an Instagram or TikTok story, added as a sticker.
- As a title card in CapCut or InShot, where a solid background would cover the footage.
- Layered on a t-shirt or tote mockup in Canva.
- As a Discord or Twitch overlay, so the text floats without a box around it.
- Dropped into a slide deck when you want the joke but not the whole colour field.
If you want the full square with the background, the main generator does that and remembers your settings separately.
Getting a transparent PNG onto your story
-
Download the PNG
Leave the file type on PNG. This is the one thing that matters: JPG throws transparency away.
-
Open your story and pick your photo
Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat all work the same way here.
-
Add the PNG as a sticker
On Instagram, tap the sticker icon and choose the photo sticker option, then pick your download. On TikTok, use the upload button inside the sticker panel.
-
Pinch to size it
Because the background is empty, only the letters land on the photo. Rotate and place freely.
A word about "brat font copy and paste"
Plenty of sites promise brat text you can copy as characters. What they hand you is a run of mathematical alphanumeric Unicode symbols that happen to look bold or condensed in some apps. Three problems come with that.
Screen readers announce them one character at a time, so a blind follower hears noise instead of your caption. Search engines and many app search boxes cannot match them, so your post stops being findable. And they do not look like brat anyway, because the effect on the record is a stretch and a blur, not a different alphabet.
An image is the honest answer. If you need the words to stay readable as text, type them normally in the caption and put the image above it. Our font page covers which faces get closest.
Transparent PNG questions
How do I get brat text with no background?
Tick "No background (transparent PNG)" in the background section, then download as PNG. JPG cannot store transparency, so it will fill the empty area with colour instead.
Can I put brat text on top of my own photo?
Yes, and that is what this page is for. Save the transparent PNG, open your photo in Instagram Stories, TikTok, CapCut or Canva, then add the PNG as a sticker or layer on top.
Can I copy brat text as actual characters instead of an image?
Not in the way people usually mean. The brat look comes from a font, a stretch and a blur, none of which survive as plain text. Anyone pasting fake "brat unicode" is giving you mathematical alphanumeric symbols, which screen readers read as gibberish and many apps refuse to render.
Why does my transparent PNG show a checkerboard?
That grey and white grid is how browsers and image editors draw "nothing here". It is not part of the file. Put the PNG over a photo and the checkerboard disappears.
What size should I export for a story overlay?
Export at 1200 or higher. Stories are 1080 pixels wide, and a larger source stays sharp when you scale or rotate it. The size guide has the rest.
Does this work on an iPhone?
Yes. Safari saves the PNG to Files or Photos depending on your settings. If the download button does nothing, long-press the preview image and choose Save to Photos instead.
