Privacy policy
The short version: your cover is made on your own device, we never see your text or your images, and there is no account to create. The rest of this page explains the small print behind that.
Who is responsible
Brat Generator operates bratgenerator.art. For privacy questions, write to [email protected].
Site owner: complete this before launch Add your legal entity name, registered address and, if you serve visitors in the EU or UK, your data controller details. A privacy policy without an identifiable controller is not compliant, and it is also a trust signal Google's raters look for.
What we do not collect
- The text you type into any generator on this site.
- The images you create or download.
- Your name, email address or phone number, unless you email us.
- Payment details, because nothing here is for sale.
This is not a promise about future intentions. It is a description of how the site is built. Covers are drawn in your browser using an HTML canvas element, and the resulting file is created in your device's memory. There is no upload step, so there is nothing for us to receive, store or hand over. Load the page, disconnect from the internet, and the tool still works.
What your browser stores on your own device
The generator saves your last-used settings in your browser's local storage so the tool looks the same when you come back. This includes your text, colours, blur, stretch and font choice.
That data stays on your device. It is never transmitted to us and we have no way to read it. Clearing your browsing data removes it, and private browsing windows discard it when you close them. If your browser blocks local storage, the tool still works and simply forgets your settings between visits.
What our host logs
This site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like every web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data to deliver pages and protect against attacks. That typically includes your IP address, the page requested, your browser's user agent string and a timestamp.
We do not use these logs to build a profile of you and we do not combine them with anything else. Cloudflare's own handling of that data is governed by its privacy policy, which you can read at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which tools people actually use. That is the one piece of third-party measurement on the site. There is no advertising network, no remarketing, no social media pixel and no session recording.
What Google Analytics receives is standard web measurement data: the page you viewed, a truncated IP address, your approximate country, your browser and device type, and a random identifier stored in a cookie. It never receives the text you type into a generator, because that is drawn on your device and never transmitted at all.
We have IP anonymisation enabled, and advertising features, remarketing and Google Signals are switched off. Google acts as our data processor for this, and its handling is governed by the Google Business Data Responsibility terms. Google may transfer this data outside your country, including to the United States, under standard contractual clauses.
Your choice about analytics
This site uses Google Consent Mode. If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics storage starts denied and no analytics cookie is set until you press Allow on the banner. Elsewhere it starts on and the banner lets you turn it off. Either way, your answer is remembered and you are not asked again.
To change your answer later, clear site data for bratgenerator.art in your browser and the banner will reappear. Browser tracking protection, an ad blocker or Global Privacy Control will also stop the tag loading, and we do not try to work around any of them. The cookie policy lists each cookie and how long it lasts.
Our legal basis is your consent where consent is required, and legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used where it is not. You can withdraw either at any time by the steps above.
If you email us
Your message and your email address sit in our inbox so we can reply. We keep support correspondence for up to two years so we can recognise a recurring bug, then delete it. We do not add you to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and similar laws elsewhere, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing, and to receive a copy. Under the CCPA you have comparable rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.
In practice, the only personal data we are likely to hold is an email you sent us. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any to sell.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we knowingly collect nothing from anyone. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we will update the date at the top and describe what changed. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the revised policy.
