Common problems and their fixes
The download button does nothing
Usually a pop-up or download blocker. Try again after allowing downloads for this site. On an iPhone, long-press the preview image and choose Save to Photos, which works even when the button is blocked.
My 3000 pixel export fails or the tab crashes
A 3000 by 3000 canvas needs roughly 36 MB of memory and older phones run out. Pick 2000 or 1500 instead. If you need the full size, press Copy a link to this design, open that link on a laptop, and export there.
The text is cut off or too small
The tool shrinks type to fit, so long text gets small type. Press Enter to break your words across two or three lines, and lower the margin. Both keep the letters large.
The font looks wrong compared to the album cover
Your device probably has no Arial. Android substitutes Roboto, which is narrower. Raise the stretch slider from 1.15 to about 1.25 and it will match closely.
The colours look different after I post it
Instagram, WhatsApp and TikTok all recompress uploads, which shifts colour slightly and softens blur. Export at a larger size and use PNG where the app allows it. Nothing on our end can prevent their compression.
My transparent PNG has a white background
The file type was set to JPG. JPG cannot store transparency, so it fills the empty area. Switch the file type to PNG and download again.
The preview is blank
Either the text box is empty, or JavaScript is switched off, or a script blocker is stopping the page. Everything is drawn in your browser, so the tool genuinely cannot run without JavaScript.
It lost my settings
Settings are saved in your own browser storage, which private browsing windows discard on close and some privacy settings block entirely. Use Copy a link to this design to keep a design permanently, since the settings travel inside the link.
Copy image is missing on my browser
That button only appears where the browser supports copying images to the clipboard. Firefox and some older versions of Safari do not. Download the image instead, which works everywhere.
Can I use this offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded. Nothing is fetched while you work, so you can switch to airplane mode and keep going. Reloading the tab while offline will not work, because the page itself has to come from somewhere.
Reporting something we have not seen
Rendering bugs are almost always specific to one browser on one kind of device, which makes them very hard to reproduce from a description like "it looks weird". Four details usually let us find it on the first try.
- Your phone or computer model, and which browser.
- Which page you were on, and what you had typed.
- What you expected, and what appeared instead.
- A screenshot, if you can. This one solves most of them on its own.
Things we get asked for and have not built
Being straight about this saves everyone time.
- Non-square covers. Stories and thumbnails are different shapes and the tool only makes squares. Export a square and place it, or use the transparent version over your own background.
- Uploading your own image as a background. Under consideration. It would mean handling your photos, and right now the fact that we handle nothing is the best thing about this site.
- Custom font uploads. Same reasoning, plus font licensing gets complicated quickly.
- Saved accounts. No. Use Copy a link to this design, which gives you the same thing without anyone holding your data.
If you want one of these badly enough to write in about it, that genuinely moves it up the list.
